| Bilberry
Pie, and other tasty tales by Egton Bridge Writer'
Group |
|
A
collection of short stories, poems and prose written
by the members of the Egton Bridge Writers’
Group, who meet monthly in this attractive village
which nestles by the river Esk, in the heart of the
North Yorkshire Moors. A wonderful mix of fact, fiction and fantasy.
‘Why Bilberry Pie? Because, as the compilers
remind us, the best bilberry pie has a juicy, tangy
filling with a crisp but succulent crust, ah, I can
almost taste it now! And this delicious compendium
of recollections, poems, pictures and stories more
than lives up to its name. I congratulate the Egton
Bridge Writers’ Group.’
Ian Carmichael
‘A multi-faceted portrait of our beautiful corner
of England , with some lively reflections on the wider
world, as viewed through North Yorkshire eyes. Altogether
a lovely evocation of rural life.’
Kate Fenton |
| In
2007 this delightful mix of poetry and prose was
entered in a national literary competition run by
David St John Thomas (previous joint owner of David
and Charles publishing house) in conjunction with
The Writer's News and Writing Magazine - the UK's
leading magazines for writers. The original six
members of Egton Bridge Writers' Group who all contributed
work for this book were thrilled when Bilberry Pie
was voted the best Anthology of the year.
The group has continued to thrive and now has increased
membership to twelve which is an ideal number for
a small rural group. Their second anthology 'Second
Helping' is being published by Fryup Press and will
be released later this year. |
