Ann Bowes was born and raised on a small hill farm
and attended the local village school. At eleven she went to a Convent
Grammar School as a boarder for five years.
When eighteen she married Allan, who, for thirty-four
years, worked as a gamekeeper on the North York Moors until his
retirement three years ago. Together they raised four children and
it was because of the tragic death of one of their sons that Ann
became even more involved with raising money for charity.
Her first book ‘Riding
for Life’ was a direct result of one of her fundraising
efforts - a journey across Northern England on horseback.
The success of this book has encouraged Ann to write
her first novel, ‘Friends Forever’.
In 2003 Ann set up Fryup Press.
To date Fryup Press has printed five books.
